Michael V. Corey, MA - Psychotherapist
Originally from the US, I grew up in Switzerland and trained in the UK in Humanisitic therapy. I am a person-centred psychotherapist / counselor with a strong affinity for the Transpersonal approach which I include in my practice. My personal background has given me much understanding for, and a keen interest in third culture and trans-cultural issues that are prevalent in an international, culturally diverse city like Geneva. I work to facilitate a safe and non-judgemental environment for my clients, with an emphasis on empathy, i.e. seeing truth from the client’s perspective. I assist my clients in reconnecting with their own sense of self-worth and their own inner resources with the aim of helping them find their own way forward, discover and rediscover their own sense of self-empowerment.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
